The release of Grand Theft Auto V on PC was one of the most anticipated platform launches in the game's history. Console players entered Los Santos in 2013, while PC gamers had to remain patient for considerably longer. This lengthy gap is one reason the question of how long GTA 5 took to come out on PC continues to appear in gaming discussions. For players interested in the game's broader ecosystem, including U4GM GTA 5 Modded Accounts, understanding this release timeline provides useful context.
Grand Theft Auto V officially launched on September 17, 2013, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Rockstar Games created a huge open world based around Los Santos and the surrounding Blaine County region. The game combined an extensive single-player campaign with GTA Online, giving players both a cinematic story and an evolving multiplayer experience.
At launch, there was no PC version available. This was particularly interesting because the PC platform had been important to previous Grand Theft Auto games. Naturally, many computer gamers expected Grand Theft Auto V to eventually reach their platform. However, Rockstar did not release the PC edition alongside the original console versions.
Instead, PC players had to wait while Rockstar developed versions for newer hardware. The company later announced Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. These versions were designed to provide technical improvements over the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions.
The PC edition was ultimately released on April 14, 2015. From the original September 17, 2013 launch, this represented a wait of approximately 574 days. In simpler terms, PC players waited about one year and seven months to play GTA 5 officially on their computers.
For many gamers, the delay felt even longer because Grand Theft Auto V had already become a huge phenomenon on consoles. Friends were already discussing story missions, favorite characters, vehicles, secrets, and GTA Online activities while PC players were still waiting. The longer development cycle also created considerable anticipation surrounding what Rockstar would deliver.
Fortunately, the PC edition included numerous improvements. Players could take advantage of higher graphical settings, improved textures, greater draw distances, enhanced lighting, and other technical features. The game could also support high resolutions on compatible hardware, allowing players to experience Los Santos with considerably more visual detail.
One of the most interesting additions was the Rockstar Editor. This feature allowed players to record gameplay and create edited videos using different camera angles and effects. It provided a new way for the community to interact with the game and helped make the PC edition particularly attractive to content creators.
GTA Online was another major reason the PC release mattered. By April 2015, the online component had already established itself as a major part of Grand Theft Auto V. PC players could join other users in Los Santos, complete jobs, buy properties, customize vehicles, participate in races, and develop their characters.
The PC platform also became closely connected with the game's modification community. Single-player modifications eventually became an important part of the wider GTA 5 PC scene, giving players additional ways to customize their experiences. This helped the PC version maintain relevance long after its original release.
When viewed from today's perspective, the delay between the console and PC versions was substantial but understandable within Rockstar's development strategy. Rather than releasing every platform simultaneously, Rockstar spent additional time creating a version capable of taking advantage of PC hardware and delivering enhanced features.
So, how long did it take GTA 5 to come out on PC? The answer is approximately 574 days, or about 19 months. The original game launched on September 17, 2013, while the PC edition arrived on April 14, 2015. Although PC players had to wait, the final product delivered enhanced visuals, PC-specific features, and access to the already-popular GTA Online experience. Even today, the game's long-lasting community continues to make U4GM GTA 5 Accounts an important part of the game's ecosystem.
