Some unique weapons in Path of Exile are designed to fit almost any character, while others become powerful only when their mechanics are fully understood. Hyaon's Fury belongs to the second category. This unique Legion Sword revolves around Lightning Damage, Attack Speed, and Frenzy Charges, making it an interesting choice for aggressive characters. Players preparing a complete setup should also think about how to spend their U4GM Path of exile currency efficiently instead of investing randomly in individual upgrades.
Hyaon's Fury requires level 62 and has Strength and Dexterity requirements of 122 and 104 respectively. Its Legion Sword base provides 40% increased Global Accuracy Rating. The unique modifiers then add 1 to 550–650 Lightning Damage, depending on the roll, alongside 7% to 10% increased Attack Speed. These stats immediately establish the weapon as an attack-oriented Lightning weapon rather than a general-purpose melee option.
The most important mechanic is its Frenzy Charge scaling. Hyaon's Fury grants 15% to 20% increased Lightning Damage per Frenzy Charge. A character with several active charges can therefore gain a considerable amount of additional Lightning scaling. This makes charge generation one of the most important parts of a Hyaon's Fury build. If charges disappear frequently, the weapon loses a significant portion of its offensive potential.
Fortunately, the sword provides another Frenzy-related benefit. It grants 20 Life gained on Kill per Frenzy Charge. This can be useful during normal mapping because enemies are defeated quickly and the recovery effect can trigger repeatedly. It does not replace proper defensive mechanics, but it can provide additional sustain when clearing large groups of monsters.
The major weakness is equally important. Hyaon's Fury causes the player to take 1% increased Damage per Frenzy Charge. This means that the same resource increasing your damage also increases your vulnerability. The drawback becomes especially noticeable when maintaining many charges. Players should therefore prioritize defenses rather than treating all available passive points as damage opportunities.
A balanced character can combine Hyaon's Fury with strong life or Energy Shield investment, appropriate resistances, mitigation, and reliable recovery. The exact defensive setup depends on the chosen ascendancy and skill, but the principle remains the same: the more offensive value you obtain from Frenzy Charges, the more carefully you should prepare for their defensive cost.
Skill selection also matters. Hyaon's Fury naturally favors attack-based abilities that can benefit from its added Lightning Damage and attack speed. Builds that scale elemental or Lightning Damage can make better use of its modifiers than setups primarily focused on physical damage. Players should also consider how their chosen skill interacts with attack speed, accuracy, and Frenzy Charge generation.
Another advantage of the sword is its straightforward identity. Rather than requiring a complicated combination of unrelated mechanics, Hyaon's Fury tells players exactly what it wants: generate Frenzy Charges, attack quickly, scale Lightning Damage, and survive the increased incoming damage. This makes it appealing for players who enjoy aggressive combat and visible power increases from maintaining charges.
The sword has been part of Path of Exile since version 1.1.3 and has received several balance changes over its history. Its Lightning Damage per Frenzy Charge was increased to the current 15% to 20% range in version 3.11.0, while the increased damage taken mechanic was introduced in its modern form earlier in the game's development.
Hyaon's Fury is therefore best viewed as a specialized build-enabling weapon rather than an automatic best-in-slot choice. When paired with reliable Frenzy Charge generation and strong defenses, it can deliver excellent Lightning-focused attack performance. Players who want to complete the build should spend their U4GM POE currency on upgrades that strengthen both the weapon's offensive mechanics and the defenses needed to handle its drawback.
